The Carbon Trust’s report, “Big Changes in Store: How Can the Global Supermarket Sector Accelerate to Net Zero?” assesses the Net Zero commitments of the world’s ten largest supermarkets by revenue. It reveals that while all ten are working to reduce emissions from their direct operations, only four have set comprehensive Net Zero targets addressing their entire value chains. Given that approximately 85% of these retailers’ emissions stem from their products and supply chains, the report emphasizes the need for transformative change and enhanced collaboration to effectively tackle these indirect emissions.
