The Forest Positive Coalition of the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) and the Soft Commodities Forum (SCF) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) have launched the Sustainable Landscapes Partnership.
With the support from Proforest, USD $5.2 million has been invested to incentivise farmers and support the emergence of forest positive and resilient production regions. This collaborative initiative is a vital step toward achieving deforestation- and conversion-free (DCF) landscapes while promoting regenerative agricultural practices and local resilience.
Focused on Western Mato Grosso in Brazil’s Cerrado biome, the partnership aims to support sustainable soy and cattle supply chains while restoring and protecting critical natural ecosystems. This approach integrates local stakeholders, including farmers and governments, in developing governance structures and achieving long-term financial sustainability.
With initial investments running until June 2026, the initiative has already made strides in natural ecosystem restoration, improving farmer livelihoods, and promoting sustainable commodity production. It demonstrates the potential for creating replicable models of resilient, forest-positive production regions.
Key Impact Highlights:
- Over 562,000 hectares of sustainable DCF commodity production engaged
- More than 200,000 hectares of natural ecosystems under restoration
- 2,250 smallholder families benefitting from improved livelihoods
