The Consumer Goods Forum’s (CGF) Towards Net Zero Coalition of Action convened its Steering Committee for the first time on 28th January in London, ahead of the Sustainable Retail Summit 2025. The meeting provided an opportunity for leaders to reflect on 2024 progress, align on key priorities, and set the course for impactful climate action in 2025.
The Coalition was pleased to welcome three new members—Douglas, Lindt, and Kerry—further strengthening its commitment to accelerating the transition to a net zero future. The Coalition continues to be supported in its work by thought leadership partner Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Looking ahead, key priorities for 2025 include:
- Supplier Targets and Engagement: Discussions focused on scaling impact through engagement, identifying opportunities to support suppliers with training, innovation, co-funding models, and incentives. The Coalition’s Decarbonisation Solutions Hub supports this aim via its collection of case studies, tools, learnings and more to help companies to navigate their climate journeys.
- Commodity Decarbonisation: Members explored ways to amplify successes and strengthen engagement with procurement teams to drive meaningful change. The Commodity Masterclass series convenes Coalition members to share best practices and address the critical challenges of decarbonizing food supply chains. - Common Data Framework: The group examined approaches to carbon metric, data collection between retailers and manufacturers, its application, and how to ensure interoperability with wider industry standards.
The meeting reinforced the Coalition’s commitment to fostering collaboration and driving systemic change across the value chain. They also talked about thinking beyond 2030 and including innovation in our roadmap for 2025. By working together, members continue to build momentum toward achieving net zero emissions and ensuring a more sustainable future.
