The Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI) is happy to announce the opening of a public stakeholder consultation for the Fairness, Integrity, Safety, and Health (FISH) Standard for Crew as it advances in the SSCI Benchmark process. WIETA is currently being benchmarked under the SSCI’s At-Sea Operations Social Sustainability scope.

The Fairness, Integrity, Safety, and Health (FISH) Standard for Crew is a voluntary, third-party labour certification programme for wild harvest fishing vessels. FISH is designed to provide harvesters a tool to demonstrate to customers and other stakeholders that the seafood harvested comes from responsible sources with respect to crew treatment, compensation, and conditions. It was developed with input from the full seafood supply chain, including large and small harvesters, processors, retailers and restaurant groups, in consultation with labour non-profit organisations, to create a program that is open to vessels and fleets of all sizes around the globe. Read more about the Standard here.

This consultation is an important step of the SSCI Benchmarking Process as it ensures its transparency by inviting interested stakeholders to review and comment on the assessment carried out by the SSCI and the independent Benchmark Leader.
