Last month, our Health & Wellness Director Sharon Bligh and Health & Wellness Committee Co-Chair Isabelle Grosmaitre (Alimentation Initiative Catalyst, Danone) travelled to Tokyo to speak at ‘Japan Day’, the annual event of our Japanese membership.
Sharon and Isabelle talked about the work of the Health & Wellness Pillar and thanked the Japanese companies in attendance for their ongoing support in helping empower consumer to adopt healthier diets and lifestyles and promote shared business value. More specifically, Sharon and Isabelle talked about the great work being achieved under the Collaboration for Healthier Lives initiative (CHL).
This included updates on the CHL pilots taking place around the world, including Japan, and thanked participating members for taking part in the initiative, highlighting the official launch of the Japanese CHL pilot. The pair also talked about the work being done on behaviour change and playing a key role in supporting healthier lifestyles, by working on new ways to leverage the in-store environment and digital platforms to inspire people around the world.
Japan was praised for being at the forefront in driving healthier practices and inspiring other regions with their successful CGF initiatives
Now in its 8th year, Japan Day is the one-day event designed specifically for our Japanese members. The goal of the event is to encourage participation in our activities within the Japanese membership and to network, share knowledge and best practices and to drive even greater collaborative efforts amongst Japanese members. The event has now become cemented in the calendars of our Japanese members and typically brings together 300+ delegates.
Other topics covered during the ever-popular day were how Japan is working to build bridges with China and how Japanese companies and government are working together to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
