The Consumer Goods Forum’s (CGF) Forest Positive Coalition of Action (FPC), a collective of 22 of the world’s largest consumer goods retailers and manufacturers, is advancing its mission to eliminate deforestation, forest conversion, and degradation from commodity supply chains. With an ambition to transform an area equivalent to their combined production-base footprint into forest positive by 2030, the FPC currently supports 25 landscape initiatives in critical commodity production regions.

In line with its commitment to transparency and scaling sustainable practices, the FPC has adopted SourceUp as its public reporting platform. SourceUp provides detailed insights into sustainability initiatives, streamlines progress reporting, and enhances visibility for stakeholders. This innovative platform supports landscape initiatives by fostering collaboration and attracting increased investment to key sourcing areas.

The significance of this partnership was emphasised at the Innovation Forum’s Sustainable Commodities and Land Use Forum, where IDH – SourceUp’s developer—showcased its capabilities. The event featured CGF member companies, including Danone, Nestlé, and Mars, presenting strategies for addressing sustainability risks and advancing nature-positive supply chains.

Key takeaways from the forum include:

  1. Streamlining reporting: Simplified tools and shared indicators can optimise resources for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV)
  2. Climate resilience in supply chains: Integrating sourcing strategies with climate resilience is crucial for long-term supply security
  3. Unlocking investment: Attracting scalable investments requires framing sustainability solutions as compelling business opportunities

The FPC’s 25 landscape initiatives are already driving positive outcomes for climate, nature, and communities. To expand these impacts globally, increased investment and support are crucial. Companies are encouraged to explore how they can contribute to scaling these efforts to meet ambitious goals.
