Mission

Moving from a linear to a circular economy requires a different approach to plastic usage, from production, consumption and reuse, to recycling and disposal. With a common vision of a world where no plastic waste ends up in nature – land or sea – the CGF’s Coalition of Action on Plastic Waste and its 43 member companies are committed to engage in this important effort.

Commitments & Achievements

The Coalition’s Charter outlines the commitments and objectives of its different workstreams and embodies the vision of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy, which the CGF endorsed in 2018. The Coalition started addressing a number of action points in 2020 after creating a blueprint and systems model.

Governance

Forty-three retailers, manufacturers and service providers are members of the Coalition. It is currently co-sponsored at the CGF Board level by the CEOs of Loblaw and L’Oréal, and co-chaired at the Steering Committee level by Mars, Incorporated, and Walmart.
