Cultivating a Caring Culture

Background

Founded in 1982 by Mr. Liu Yonghao, the “Pioneer of Reform”, New Hope Group is a modern private enterprise group with modern agriculture and food industry as its main business. During its 40 years of entrepreneurial history, it has always been based on the agriculture and animal husbandry industry and continuously extended to the upstream and downstream industries.

The company is guided by the core philosophy of “built by trust, enduring by love.” It is committed to playing a leadership role in agricultural industrialisation, integrating global resources, and creating a safe and healthy value chain in the large-scale food industry, ultimately contributing to the realisation of their employee’s aspirations for a better life.

Establishing a Culture of Care

In late 2023, the company introduced a cultural framework called “One Concept, Four Spirits” to unite employees in overcoming challenges. At the heart of this framework is the principle of “Built by Trust, Enduring by Love”, inspired by Chairwoman Angela Liu’s Mid-Autumn Festival message. This message emphasises the importance of trust in the industry, the company, colleagues and oneself, while fostering a deep appreciation for these relationships.

The office has a comfortable and open area for meals, tea breaks and relaxation. To support employees working long hours, an ‘Energy Refuelling Station’ offers healthy snacks, drinks and light meals, providing quick access to refreshments to keep them energised and productive. To support female employees during breastfeeding, a ‘Mother and Baby Room’ has been created in the workplace. This private, clean and comfortable space allows breastfeeding mothers to nurse in privacy, reflecting the company’s genuine care for its female employees.

Breastfeeding Support & Caring for Disabled Workers

Implementation

Meihao Mutual Benefit Society

To embody its family-oriented corporate culture, the company has established the “Meihao Mutual Benefit Society”. Employees voluntarily contribute annual dues, which are pooled into a “Mutual Benefit Fund” to provide medical support for members and their families, as well as assistance to disaster victims and the families of deceased members. This initiative ensures that every employee feels the warmth and care of a family.

Since its inception in 2014, the Society has helped 2,366 families and disbursed a total of CNY22,912,100. In 2023 alone, it raised approximately CNY 6.05 million, with 44,508 members, representing a membership rate of 66%. In the same year, the society helped 552 families and distributed around CNY 5.9 million.

Warm Heart Project

Since 2011, the company has been implementing the “Warm Heart Project” to improve the working and living conditions of employees. Each subsidiary is required to standardise the management of canteens, bathrooms and dormitories, while promoting a welcoming environment.

Key initiatives include

  • Upgrading dormitories with air conditioning and providing medical supplies in offices.
  • Expanding recreational facilities and providing rooms in industrial parks for local and partner employees.
  • Conducting weekly meetings to gather staff feedback on food and living conditions, with nutritious meals tailored for physically demanding roles.
  • Providing seasonal refreshments in the summer and implementing effective waste management.

The company also promotes team cohesion through activities and campaigns such as sending thank you letters to employees’ families and recognising frontline staff with a monthly awards programme.
