The Consumer Goods Forum’s Collaboration for Healthier Lives Coalition of Action (CHL) met in London last week, ahead of the Sustainable Retail Summit. Steering Committee members convened to reflect on the Coalition’s global and regional successes and challenges over the past year, and laid the groundwork for a critical year ahead.
Placing the consumer perspective at the heart of business remained top-of-mind for the CHL Steering Committee. In addition, there was a growing momentum on exploring exciting synergies with other CGF Coalitions of Action to address sustainability challenges.

At a Turning Point: CHL’s Upcoming Priorities
In a world where the need to act for a healthy planet is paramount, CHL Steering Committee members are committed to driving positive action that will empower people to live healthier and more sustainable lives. The year 2025 will focus on getting impact and empowering consumers with better options, better choices and better communities.
CHL has marked significant achievements in 2024:
- Preventative Health Playbook, a framework for companies to build digitally supported initiatives around preventative health topics.
- The Sustainable Kitchen website, co-developed with the Food Waste (FW) Coalition of Action, inspires reduced food waste and healthier diets.
- Seven Principles for Employee Health & Wellbeing, co-developed with the McKinsey Health Institute.
Regional updates from CHL Collaborations in China, Japan and Latin America gave a panoramic view of both consumer and employee-facing initiatives in action around the globe. Members such as Ajinomoto, Fairprice, Grupo Alen, Haleon, Majid Al Futtaim Carrefour, Migros Ticaret and OXXO shared knowledge and insights into their own journeys tackling including salt reduction, nutrition & food literacy, consumer education, and employee mental wellbeing. The reflections laid the groundwork for members to transition into establishing a Coalition roadmap for the year ahead.
By prioritising collective and actionable initiatives and expanding partnerships with international organisations, the Coalition aims to amplify its impact on people and planet.
The 2025 Framework for Action areas include:
- Product and category innovation: Developing solutions for consumers’ holistic wellbeing, and using digital tools and AI to interpret behaviour change globally, while nudging consumers towards healthier, accessible and more sustainable options.
- Employee health and wellbeing initiatives: The coalition also aims to inspire companies towards more impactful employee health and wellbeing initiatives. Best practices will continue to be shared through CHL’s case study series.
This collaborative approach concluded with commitments from Steering Committee delegates on how they will drive positive change in the Coalition across key areas, such as health and environmental sustainability, in the upcoming year.
“98% of consumers say that brands have a responsibility to make a positive change in the world. This makes the CGF more important than ever. It gives me enormous hope to see the number of different companies, the sectors, the countries that are represented in this room.” said Solitaire Townsend, Chief Solutionist & Co-Founder, Futerra.
