CJ CheilJedang’s Work on Plastic Packaging:

CJ CheilJedang is committed to creating a virtuous cycle of ‘Nature to Nature’, where resources are sourced from nature, used to provide food for consumers, and returned to nature. As part of this initiative, the company has been implementing a comprehensive sustainable packaging strategy to significantly reduce its use of fossil-based virgin plastics.

In 2023, CJ CheilJedang pledged to eliminate problematic and unnecessary packaging materials from its product range. To achieve these objectives, the company is continuously optimizing its packaging designs and incorporating recycled and ISCC certified renewable materials. This approach has resulted in notable progress, with reduction in fossil-based virgin plastics totaling 925 tons in 2021, 1,357 tons in 2022, and 1073 tons in 2023 from the 2020 baseline. As a member of coalition, CJ CheilJedang is committed to promoting a circular economy for packaging by collaborating with industry leaders and partners and by actively adopting the golden design rules.
