Background

Grupo Bimbo’s mission is to bring delicious and nutritious baked goods and snacks into the hands of all, while the company’s philosophy centers on building a sustainable, highly productive, and deeply humane company. Central to this ethos is a comprehensive approach to wellness, which prioritises the safety and wellbeing of our associates and their families. With over 149,000 associates across 34 countries, Grupo Bimbo recognises that wellness varies by individual; thus, our initiatives are broad, inclusive, and adaptable to diverse needs.

Our core belief lies in ‘valuing the individual,’ wherein the safety and wellbeing of our associates take precedence. Safety is considered a fundamental work condition—mandatory and non-negotiable—while wellbeing is viewed as a personal and confidential commitment, deeply rooted in each individual’s effort to promote health, life balance, and mitigate both professional and non-professional illnesses.

A Commitment to Wellbeing

  • This commitment to prioritising the safety and wellbeing of associates aligns seamlessly with Grupo Bimbo’s broader mission and vision.
  • By nurturing a workplace culture built on respect, fairness, trust, and care—the embodiment of our Golden Rule—the company creates environments where every individual can thrive.
  • By emphasising diversity and inclusion and fostering the personal and professional growth of associates, Grupo Bimbo aims to not only enhance individual wellbeing but also bolster the overall quality of life, reinforcing the company’s reputation.

Implementation

Grupo Bimbo’s approach to wellness is structured around a Global Wellness Policy that defines the responsibilities of the company, its leaders, and associates, all through the wellness model that encompasses five pillars: health, healthy diet, physical activity, work-life balance, and work life. These pillars are supported by four operational lines of action:

  • Awareness: Understanding health risks, promoting healthier lifestyles.
  • Leadership: Encouraging a healthy company culture through leadership commitment.
  • Education: Supporting healthy choices through knowledge enhancement.
  • Projects: Creating opportunities for behavioral changes and removing barriers to healthy lifestyles.

Wellness committees at various levels of the organisation play a pivotal role in the implementation of these strategies. These committees are responsible for the local adaptation of global guidelines, making wellness an attainable goal for every associate. Regular meetings and the tracking of wellness indicators through our wellness observatory provide data that help us refine and evolve our strategies over time.

Conviction

Firm belief in cultivating health as a value within ourselves, associates, family, and community.

Confidentiality

Ensuring privacy and safe handling of personal data.

Flexibility

Each workplace manages wellness projects aligned with the Global Regulatory Model and tailored to the specific needs of the country or locality.

Collaboration

Working together towards a shared vision of health and wellness involving leaders, associates, organisational teams, and external stakeholders.

Impact

The commitment of Grupo Bimbo to the safety and wellbeing of its associates has helped consolidate a comprehensive value proposition for our associates. By prioritising safety and providing resources for wellbeing, the company has fostered a work environment conducive to personal and professional growth.

This emphasis on associate welfare seeks to increase levels of associate satisfaction, heighten productivity, reduce absenteeism and turnover.

By aligning our business practices with our wellness goals, Grupo Bimbo has also enhanced its reputation as a responsible and desirable employer. This reputation helped the company attract and retain top talent, remaining competitive and sustainable in the long term. Through continued efforts, wellness is integrated into every facet of Grupo Bimbo’s corporate culture by 2030, making it not just a policy but a fundamental part of the company’s identity.
