SITGES, BARCELONA, September 2023 –WinterComes 2023 convened a vibrant group of global supply chain and product data leaders in the Coastal Town of Sitges (Barcelona), Catalonia, Spain, from September 23rd-01st Oct, to collectively shape the future of supply chains against the backdrop of innovative technologies through a series of interactive discussions, best practice sharing, and tangible takeaways to drive impact.

Over networking dinner at the Finca Viladellops vineyard on the coast of Catalonia, site visits to the La Boqueria food market, behind-the-scenes access to the SOFT Innovations Centre hosted by co-founders Cecilia Tham and Mark Bûnger, and a team-building drumming workshop to amp up the collaborative spirit, attendees of the full-week WinterComes had the exceptional opportunity to connect with industry peers from around the world.

Led by our Co-chairs, Kristian Gatewood, P&G and Ethem Kamanlı, Migros Turkey, the Product Data Steering Committee meeting kicked off day one with a deep dive into the coalition’s various work streams. Breakout sessions took stock of the coalition’s progress to date and looked to the future. Retailers and manufacturers shared their perspectives on key topics centred around the value story—the meaning of the narrative to consumers and the evolution of the consumer experience; access to standards, including the responsibilities of all industry players; how the role of barcodes has evolved and access to new information; new ways of data exchange; KPIs for data; and ID Ubiquity. The day concluded with panel discussions reviewing the manifesto of the CGF Product Data Coalition of Action for the year to come.

A New Edition of the global Supply Chain Conference was held on day two, addressing key topics such as Digital Product Passport in the EU presented by Andreas Schneider, CEO of the Global Textile Scheme, and sharing insights into current developments and future trends for the textile and consumer goods industries using a digital product pass.

Qusai Sarraf, Founder and CEO, IVIS Group, said, “using enrichment to understand consumer behaviours can not only bring customer-facing value but provides an opportunity for our industry to fix product data issues in the supply chain “ as he addressed the topic of Using Enrichment to Drive Demand Chain to Value Chain: Igniting Customer Centric Retailing further elaborating on the shift from supply chain to end-to-end value chain, as well as the optimisation of processes from data-centric to consumer customers-centric and action oriented perspective.

Eduard Marfá, Global Marketing Director, Siemens took the floor to unpack Becoming Digital and how to accelerate digital transformation in supply chains.

Iñigo Jauregui Beldarrain, Commercial & System Engineering Director at ULMA Handling Systems, demonstrated the role of well designed and equipped Projects in Fully Automated Order Preparing Systems Warehouses.

After a break more plenary discussions explored ways in which digital technology can help the sustainability realm.

Leonel Pava, Executive Director, LOGYCA shed light into the transportation landscape within the LATAM region posing the sensitive question of how freight transportation can be sustainable, and shared strategies to support Decarbonisation of Transportation.

Leontien Hasselman-Plugge, Co-CEO, ImpactBuying B.V. shared insights into current trends of data in sustainability and ways to face upcoming Regulatory Challenges.

The day concluded with a virtual session hosted by Bob van Luijt, CEO & Co-Founder of Weaviate, revealing the possibilities of AI Technologies and Vector Databases.

The End to End Value Chain Steering Committee spent day three revisiting existing projects, identifying trends, barriers and opportunities on how to create more impact focusing on the key topics of Smart Packaging, the way forward on ESG reporting, TrueCode and how to better connect the different Accelerator Areas of The Consumer Goods Forum.

The week wrapped up on day five with a session of refining the End-To-EndValue Chain & Coalition of Actions strategic priorities, reinforcing the WHY and outlining the next steps to making a significant contribution to the entire ecosystem.
