Experts across ENGIE Impact and The Consumer Goods Forum to facilitate a masterclass series to help companies address emissions from electricity and thermal energy

DUBLIN, 22nd June  2022 — ENGIE Impact, the solutions and services company that’s accelerating sustainability transformation worldwide, will be teaming up  with The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) to drive decarbonisation within the sector. The CGF is an organisation that brings consumer goods retailers and manufacturers together globally to secure consumer trust and drive positive change.

The partnership announced at the CGF’s flagship event, the Global Summit in Dublin this week, will deliver a masterclass series of webinars designed to help consumer goods (CG) and food and beverage (F&B) companies address emissions from electricity and thermal energy. Entitled “The Fundamentals of Decarbonisation: Best Practices for Consumer Goods and Food & Beverage Companies”, this masterclass series aims to provide participants with the tools and best practices to create a cost-effective strategy that can successfully lower their carbon emissions, reduce their energy use and generate savings on their electricity bills while boosting their sustainability rating.

The electrification of industries across sectors is one of the key levers for global decarbonisation—provided it comes from renewable sources. Given that the renewable electricity sourcing market is advanced, there is an abundance of mature solutions available, but identifying the right combination of solutions for any one company active across multiple geographies can be a challenge. Meanwhile, thermal energy (heat and cooling) plays an outsized role in corporate and industrial emissions and is notoriously difficult to decarbonise.

To tackle these challenges, ENGIE Impact’s sustainability experts are creating how-to guides on best practices for renewable electricity sourcing and thermal energy, which will serve as primers for the interactive masterclasses. ENGIE Impact recognises that companies need the tools, best practices and a cost-effective decarbonisation plan to respond to the growing climate demands. These masterclasses are intended to help those CGF members that are just starting out on their decarbonisation journey as well as those that are ready to take it to the next level.

“The consumer goods and food and beverage industries receive greater consumer scrutiny than most other sectors. They face strong public pressure to respond to societal demands for sustainable production and transparent supply chains. While these sectors include some of the leaders of global sustainability, most companies are not ready for their net zero carbon transformation. Our mission is to show them net zero carbon is possible and help them accelerate their net zero journey”, said Nicolas Lefevre-Marton, Managing Director, Sustainability Solutions at ENGIE Impact. “We at ENGIE Impact are all too familiar with the issue of net zero ambitions outpacing implementation capabilities. This collaboration with The Consumer Goods Forum aims to help companies understand that net zero should be perceived as an opportunity rather than an imposition, and that those who accelerate their net zero transformation can gain a long-term competitive advantage”.

“As an official UN Race to Zero Accelerator, we are committed to supporting our members in their decarbonisation journeys. Emissions from electricity and thermal energy remain a challenge for many of our members and we are pleased to be working with ENGIE Impact to bring insights and learnings in these areas”, said Ignacio Gavilan, Environmental Sustainability Director, The Consumer Goods Forum.

By providing these masterclass webinars to CG and F&B companies, ENGIE Impact and The Consumer Goods Forum hope to facilitate their sustainable transformation by offering practical advice on the use of a dynamic mix of solutions to help them decide on the correct energy supply to ensure the maximum efficiency of their operations, while ensuring the continuity of their net zero ambitions.
